How Can chronic Acid Reflux Along With Hives Be Treated?

I have had hives and acid reflux for 4 weeks - after a significant initial occurance and no root cause has been established. Both symptoms have receded from the initial occurance but still there. Blood test shows elevated prostate enzymes. Urine test shows protein. I have previously been diagnosed with and being treated for Hypothyroidism and Vitiligo. Am pretty sure I have low level kidney stones. Is there a root cause issue or issues?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

These difficulties that you describe are suggestive of stomach irritation due to GERD or a hiatal hernia. These both are very common and should be initially treated which changing dietary habits.

It will also be aggravated by certain food or medications, stress and smoking. You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food.

You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food.

Also, certain antiacid medications may be required and as for last option, it is possible to perform surgical repair of a hernia especially if there are progressive respiratory discomfort and dyspepsia.

To diagnose it you should do gastroscopy and if this is negative as in your case then you should do contrast X-rays of a stomach.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeo
